WE ARE A WORK IN PROGRESS..EVEN THE BEST ONES!

I have read many books on self-awareness and heard many podcasts that have helped me at various stages of life, especially when I needed to look inwards. Spent many evenings with my tribe talking about how we allow ourselves to fall in self-made traps of validation, attachments, competition, anger and many such feelings that we grapple with all the time. We might know that these are low-life conditions however we are never fully aware that these are life states and not life itself. We never really fully actualize what we read, hear and speak.

Therefore, we are constantly a work in progress. Why is that? At the core of our being, we all have some very intrinsic tendencies that pull us down into a rabbit hole. For me, it’s the haste to get things done, being perfect, deep-rooted attachments, validation etc

Sometimes we get so badly trapped in this mesh of our tendencies that we don’t realize how badly we are caught up and how desperately we need to step out of it. None of the acquired wisdom tends to work on us. Our mind is enveloped in situations, instances, people, and reactions, which triggers our behavior. This happens to the best of us. We don’t always practice what we preach.

Earlier I would be very judgmental about such people, but now I say it’s human. It happens to the best of us. Just because we know doesn’t mean we always apply. However, the fact that we are aware of the traps can help us empathize and understand others better and can help us identify these traps and act to step out of them.

It only takes that one flashing moment for you to step outside the lower life state you are in to see where you are and know that you don’t want to be there, and it’s you who has to take action to pull yourself out of it. You always have a support system that can give you strength and guidance, but you are the being who is constantly on the journey of self-improvement. That road never ends. We can always be better; no rule book says that you will not deviate. You will, but as long as you get back on the path to self-discovery and do what floats your boat leading you to tranquility, you’re home.

Awareness does not guarantee that we will not fall into the pit hole; it’s a belief that we will know how to pick ourselves up and constantly work on ourselves to find that peace, calm, and happiness inside us. In my case, I need to keep Rumi close and know, “What you seek is seeking you.”
